Winter Games Special Olympics: Winter Games Special Olympics were held at Albrecht Acres in Sherrill, Iowa on January 14th and 15th. The following students were involved: Logan Walker, Tyasia Mallette, and Shai Mackedanz. All the students were trying snowshoeing for the first time. They did great finishing with gold, silver, and bronze medals in the 100 and 200 meter races. Awesome job! A special thanks to Mrs. Stieglitz from Life Skills for going along and assisting. ~Mr. Paca- Roosevelt Special Olympics Coach.
LRC News: Thanks to everyone who participated in the Teacher’s Pets contest. This month’s books on the Table Feature Display will celebrate diversity, different voices and perspectives. Come on in to the library and check these books out.
FAST Testing: FAST testing has been rescheduled to Tuesday, January 22. The library will be closed that day.
Deadline for Purchasing Yearbooks: The deadline for purchasing a yearbook is January 31st! Order forms were sent home this week with students who had not yet ordered a yearbook this year. If you decide you would like one, please drop off the order form along with $13.00 (cash or check payable to ERMS) to the main office. Parents/guardians may also use the online payment portal to buy one. Just go to: www.dbqschools.org/onlinepayments.
High School Open House Reminder: A reminder to all 8th graders of the upcoming high school open houses on Monday, January 28! The Hempstead High School open house will be from 6:30-8:30. The Dubuque Senior High School open house will be from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Please plan to attend with your parent/guardian. Your attendance is very important- you will learn about your high school and the many educational and extra-curricular opportunities available. You will also be able to meet with teachers and staff and tour the school. Students who will attend Hempstead should report to Moody Gym, and students who will attend Senior should report to Nora Gym.
New LEAP Field Trip: Field Trip to Creative Adventure Lab to climb the Rock Wall on Wednesday, January 23rd. Sign up in the office on Thursday January 17th. You must have a LEAP Permission Slip on file to sign up.
Spirit Day Theme: The Spirit Day theme for this Friday, January 18, is House Theme Challenge (Each House chooses)!
