Student attendance on these dates is very important. You need to bring your laptops to school fully charged on testing days. And be sure to get a good night’s sleep prior to taking the tests, and eat a nutritious breakfast and lunch. Do your very best on the MAP tests!!

Buy One, Get One Free Book Fair: Roosevelt Middle School will be hosting a Buy One, Get One Free (BOGO) book fair. This is a great way to stock up on books for summer reading. For each book you purchase, you can get a second book of equal or lesser value for free. The book fair will be open May 10, 11, 13 and 14 during periods 1-8. Due to MAP testing on May 12, the book fair hours will be limited to when the library is able to open after testing. Thanks and Happy Reading!              ~Mrs. Anne Williams

6th Grade Football & Volleyball: 6th Grade Football and 6th Grade Volleyball both begin on Monday, May 10, and practice is 2:30-4:00. If you would like to participate, please talk with your family and make sure it will work to have a ride (or walk home) at 4:00. Then use the link that was emailed to you from Mr. Lawler on Monday, April 26, to sign up. If you have any questions, please ask Mrs. Mohr, Mr. Freiburger, or Mr. Lawler in the Activities Office.

Garden Club Plant Sale: The ERMS Garden Club Plant Sale is fast approaching!! Flowers will be sold in the entrance by the lunchroom during 8th period on Friday, May 7th. You must have teacher permission to come and shop. Flower plants are $1.00 each, just in time for Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 9th! Bring your dollars and treat Mom like a queen on her special day.

A second plant sale will be held the following Friday, May 14th, during period 8. LOTS of veggies and herbs will be sold for $1.50 each along with the remaining flowers. Dubuque’s last frost date is May 10th, so it’ll be time to stock the garden! ~Mrs. Easley

Incoming 6th Grade Orientation Nights: We look forward to meeting all current 5th graders who will attend Roosevelt next year at our upcoming orientation nights! The evenings will begin at 6:30 pm and end at 7:30 pm. All attendees should report to the Lass Auditorium. (The evening will include a presentation in the auditorium, a self-guided tour to explore the building, and stations set up in the cafeteria for questions).

Because we will be following safety protocols and limiting attendance to the student and two adults (Parent/Guardian), we ask that the students from the listed schools attend only on their specified night!

Thursday, May 6: Students and parents/guardians from Audubon, Bryant, Carver, Fulton, Irving, Lincoln, and Marshall should attend.

Tuesday, May 11: Students and parents/guardians from Eisenhower, Prescott, Sageville, and Table Mound should attend.

Thursday, May 13: Students and parents/guardians from Hoover and Kennedy should attend.

Parochial school students who live in the Roosevelt boundary and will attend Roosevelt next year may attend one of the nights. Parents/guardians of students coming from parochial schools should also contact the Guidance Office at 552-5013. Thank you!

Future Mustangs-Choir: You’re invited to a workshop and Q & A session with Mrs. Roe – Hempstead’s Vocal Music Director – and two of her seniors. This will take place in the choir room, #165, on Tuesday, May 11, from 2:11 – 3:00 pm.

This is a great opportunity to learn about the Mustang vocal program, ask questions, and meet your future director. Mrs. Roe will also listen to you sing “Count the Stars” and give feedback so you can experience what it’ll be like under her direction.                                                                ~Mrs. Toups

Hempstead Color Guard: 8th graders going to Hempstead can visit with the coach and Hempstead students in Color Guard to learn more about the team. They will be in the cafeteria during 8th period on Tuesday, May 11. If you would like to see and talk with them, please ask your homebase teacher for a pass. You can look them up on Facebook or Instagram for more details.
