The ERMS team took first place at the Wahlert Math Contest held on April 8th, and two students earned 2nd and 3rd place individually. Congrats to the entire team for working together!An administrative rule change by the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), Bureau of Immunization, REQUIRES MENINGOCOCCAL (A, C, W, Y) VACCINE FOR STUDENTS ENROLLING IN 7TH AND 12TH GRADES in addition to other vaccination requirements.
STUDENTS IN THESE GRADES MUST HAVE A VALID IMMUNIZATION CERTIFICATE ON FILE TO ATTEND SCHOOL.

To better inform our families about schedule changes, the Dubuque Community School District will begin offering text messaging for weather-related and emergency alerts from the district. The service is offered through School Messenger, the system the district currently uses for mass email messages and automated phone calls.

ERMS students will be participating in the annual ITP tests (standardized tests) in the beginning of November 2, 3, 7, and 9. All testing will be in the first 2 hours of the morning. Because we use this tool to provide the best programming decisions for our students and because it will measure student achievement from year to year, we ask that students be provided the following:
*A good night’s rest
*A healthy breakfast
*A healthy snack if the teacher allows
*A conversation with your student about good test taking skills

October 24-28 is Red Ribbon Week, Just Say No to Drugs! Our Student Council and their advisor, Ms. Aldeman, have scheduled some fun events for the week!

Tuesday – Hawaiian day – “Lei off drugs”
Wednesday – Color War – 8th grade: black, 7th grade: purple, 6th grade: blue “Team up against drugs”
Thursday – Decades Day – “Drugs are NEVER in style!”

The Dubuque Community School District will join school districts across the Midwest in celebrating the third-annual Midwest Menu event on Thursday, Oct. 6. Over 7,000 students in Dubuque and over 500,000 throughout the region will join in the event, which celebrates healthy, regional, and sustainable school meals.
