Johll to Become Next Roosevelt Middle School Principal
The Dubuque Community School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Johll as the new principal of Roosevelt Middle School beginning in the 2016-2017 school year, pending approval by the Board of Education at its April 11 meeting. An experienced educational administrator, Johll has served as assistant principal at Roosevelt since 2005.
As principal of Roosevelt, Johll will be responsible for the strategic and day-to-day operations of the school, which serves approximately 1,160 students and 145 professional and support staff.

Former U.S. Defense Secretary Commends Roosevelt Students on North Korea Research
It just so happened that two recent claims by North Korea regarding nuclear weaponry have coincided with related topics in Roosevelt Middle School teacher Peter Knutson’s eighth-grade science class. Most recently, garnering a response from former United States Secretary of Defense William J. Perry.

FBI Internet Safety Presentation, Jan. 7
The Dubuque Community School District will host “Internet Safety for Parents and Community,” presented by a representative from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), on Thursday, Jan. 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the Washington Middle School Auditorium. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.
‘School Speak’ to Discuss District Finances and Teacher Leadership, Dec. 19
The Dubuque Community School District will host a “School Speak” event at 8 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, at the district’s administrative offices at 2300 Chaney Road.
The forum, designed to provide additional opportunities for conversation between administrators and community members, will include short presentations on district finances and the district’s teacher leadership initiatives.
