The Dubuque Community School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Bobbie Jones as assistant principal at Roosevelt Middle School, pending approval by the Board of Education at its May meeting. Jones will assume the position left vacant by Brenda Duvel, who will become the principal of Kennedy Elementary School next year.
Jones currently serves as teacher on special assignment at the district level, focusing on special education curriculum and services. Throughout her time in the district, Jones has significant experience in data-based decision making, professional development and curriculum implementation. She has coordinated the district’s Extended School Year program, managed budget areas, provided staff guidance and support, and developed strong special education collaboration with curricular areas. She has served on a variety of building leadership teams, district committees and site councils, and was a member of the statewide IEP (Individualized Education Program) Management System Review Group.
Prior to assuming her current role in 2014, she served as a special education instructional coach at Audubon Elementary School and has been a special education teacher at Table Mound Elementary School, Irving Elementary School and Eisenhower Elementary School. She joined the district in 2000.
Jones holds a bachelor of arts degree in elementary and special education from the University of Dubuque, as well as a master of arts degree in special education from Clarke University and received her Pre-K through Secondary School Administrator Endorsement through the Iowa Principal Leadership Academy.
