WATER WE DOING TO OUR ENVIRONMENT (March 30)
Students will learn how actions affect the overall health of the Mississippi River. They will conduct experiments on source pollution and figure out how students can reduce the pollution that enters the river. This one day session will be hosted at the National River Museum & Aquarium.

YOGA CLUB (March 22, 29 and April 4, 11, 18, 25)
This afterschool club opportunity will be provided by a licensed yoga instructor. Each Class will consist of practicing the yoga poses, an activity and art component, writing, relating to their lives.

SKETCH TECH CLUB (March 30 and April 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4)
Are you a student interested in drawing and art? Do you like using technology on the computer? Sketch Tech is an after school club that will meet on Wednesdays from 2:35 – 4:00PM. With this club, you will have the opportunity to use technology to assist you in sketching drawings of your own choosing. You will then take digital photos of your drawings, import them into WeVideo or iMovie, and create a mini-movie of your sketches that you can then share with others!

BRINGING BOOKS TO THE BIG SCREEN CLUB (April 1, 8, 15, 22)
The program will offer students the opportunity to work on a short book trailer using the guidance from Dubuque Community School District Video Production Team. Students will get their hands on professional video equipment and potentially will get involved in the editing process if time permits. Students will work with a script to create the video book trailers.

ART ENRICHMENT CLUB (April 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4, May 11)
If you’ve ever thought – “Wow, my life should be a movie!” or, “I could write a book!”, then this art adventure may be for you. Everybody has a story, and in this after-school art journey, you will explore the ups and downs of your past, present, and future life, through a life-size 3D sculpture! Join us if you’re highly creative, inventive, and want to express your story without words!

GEOLOGY TREK (April 13)
With this club students will learn about the many different geological features of Mine of Spain. Hands on activities allow them to become geologists! This one day after school activity will take place at EB Lyons and the Mines of Spain from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm.

MAMMALS OF THE MISSISSIPPI (April 20)
Students will learn the ‘ins and outs’ of Mississippi river mammal identification and some interesting facts to share on these fascinating animals. This one day session will be hosted at the National River Museum & Aquarium.

ENGINEERING DESIGN SQUAD (April and May TBD)
Students interested in learning how Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics work together in the 21st Century should sign up for this after school club. There will be a total of six after school sessions from 2:35 pm to 4:00 pm, starting on March 31st! Students will go from one challenge to another in real-world engineering applications! Interested students should sign up in the Activities Office! Spaces are limited!

#CHATTER CLUB (May 2, 3, 5, 9, 10, 12)
This club gives students an opportunity to get together and participate in mental and physical challenges such as “Minute to Win It” activities and other mind benders while building trust, relationships, self-esteem, and team work! Groups will challenge each other and discuss peer pressure, creative expression, and healthy choices. Awesome PRIZES will be given for participation in activities!

SCIENTISTS OF THE WET AND WILD (May 4)
Students will play the role of scientist and identify the aquatic life and categorize them as pollution tolerant or intolerant. This one day session will be hosted at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium.

BOAT BUILDING (May 11)
Students will explore the tools and techniques used in a boat shop. Use some of the hand tools that made many a watercraft in their day. Watch a real model steam engine operate. This one day session will be hosted at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium.

SOCCER CLUB (May 16, 18, 20, 23, 25, 27)
After-school club that will meet for six days focusing on the fundamentals of this popular outdoor sport.

ZIP LINE NATURE CLUB (May 16)
Students will participate in a zip line nature tour of the former Union Park and YMCA Camp. This after school opportunity and supervision of this event is provided by the Dubuque Community Y.

CANOEING CLUB (May 24)
Students will learn techniques and skills needed for canoeing as they travel down Catfish Creek. This one day after school activity will take place at EB Lyons and the Mines of Spain from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
